Jennifer Hunter

Jennifer is a highly skilled group facilitator, advisor, psychosocial risk manager, evidence-based practitioner, and clinician. Jennifer specialises in assisting organisations, groups, and individuals in the areas of workplace psychological health and safety, rehabilitation, leadership, organisational development, and clinical treatment services.
Jennifer is experienced in assessing, diagnosing, and treating clients across the lifespan. She can assist with a range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, insomnia, stress and burnout, relationship distress, and adjustment to injury and illness. Jennifer has also worked within multidisciplinary team settings, conducting initial needs assessments, and delivering cognitive behavioural therapy for clients as part of their rehabilitation following traumatic brain injury.
Additionally, Jennifer developed and delivered workplace training to assist care teams to better understand and support clients during their recovery process following traumatic brain injury. Jennifer has also assisted in the delivery of workplace mediation services, as well as completing parenting assessments.
As part of her clinical training, Jennifer practiced at the Sunshine Coast Mind and Neuroscience – Thompson Institute (University of the Sunshine Coast) Psychology Clinic in Birtinya, delivering individual psychotherapy services and cognitive and learning assessments to children, adolescents, and adults presenting with conditions including anxiety, depression, intellectual impairment, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and autism spectrum disorders. Jennifer has also provided outreach therapeutic support to cancer survivors and their family members at the Bloom Hill Cancer Care Centre in Buderim.
Prior to moving into clinical psychology, Jennifer worked for more than two decades across various industries, including health and community services, retail and wholesale trade, manufacturing, transport and construction and finance industries. She has held senior leadership positions within private and public sector organisations, where she was responsible for leading nationally distributed teams to achieve regulatory compliance in workplace health and safety and rehabilitation. Most notably, Jennifer worked in a leadership role with the Queensland Safety Regulator, transforming their state-wide safety leadership and culture program with more than 1000 participating organisations.
Jennifer employs a warm, understanding, and non-judgemental approach to her work, providing a strong therapeutic relationship with her clients. Jennifer is trained in delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) techniques to clients.
